Back from Piatra Craiului

Thu Jul 9, 2009, 1:33 AM
News:

So, I'm back in town and editing shots. I took some nice shot back in the Piatra Craiului mountains, and hope they'll end up quite nice after postprocessing.

:bulletred: I have to start planning a new trip to the mountains.
:bulletred: Must get myslef a nice C-PL filter.
:bulletred: I have to buy a DK-20 eyecup. It seems it's more comfortable than the DK-16 I have.
:bulletred: I need a subscription.

Mountain trip

Well, it was really nice. It's great to wake up in the morning, get out of your tent and see nothing else but mountains all around you.

We started hiking from Zarnesti city. We walked down the forrest road to "Botorog's Fountain" (Fantana lui Botorog) and filled our bottles with water. As we went up the mountain it started raining and the trail got really muddy and slippery. We actually missed the yellow strip markings and wandered around for about 10 minutes untill we found the markings and got back on the right trail.

After about two hours of hiking we finally arrived at "Poiana Zanoaga" where you can find a sheepfold and started taking some shots. Fortunately the rain stopped, and the sun started shining. After getting back on the trail and hiking another half an hour we arrived at "Curmatura" chalet. Were we set up our tent and enjoyed a beer and got some more shots.

The dog at the Curmatura chalet is great. I mean this dog slept outside of our tent and was very attracted to my girlfriend. He actually posed for a shot!

The hike back was really fast... about 2 and a half hours from Curmatura chalet to "Botorog's Fountain", and after we ate, we continued our hike towards Zarnesti city. A guy with a jeep actually gave us a ride to the center of the city.

Great hiking track! And stay tuned, I'll be uploading some more shots!!!

Quote: "As a fellow photographer I hope you will help me clear up a popular misconception that we take pictures. We don't. Cameras take pictures; photographers make pictures. By deciding the composition of the photograph, and by selecting the film and focus and exposure, we decide what the picture shall be." - Tom Grimm, from "The Basic Book of Photography".
